Teaching & Training

We participate in the undergraduate ScotGEM medical teaching programme run jointly by St Andrews and Dundee Universities. Third year medical students are based in our practice for 12 months gaining valuable clinical experience.  Each student has a designated GP tutor.  All consultations involving undergraduate students are actively supervised by Practice medical staff; however, if you do not want to have a consultation involving a medical student, you can simply make the practice staff aware of this.

The practice also supports Foundation Doctors (also known FY2  or  House Officer) who are newly qualified doctors undertaking general post graduate medical training. They are usually hospital based but can spend up to 4 months developing general practitioner skills.

We also have more experienced doctors who are now studying GP Training as a speciality. These GP Trainees (or Registrars ) are attached to our practice for a longer period.

Sometimes doctors record videos of consultations for teaching purposes.  Your permission would always be sought in advance. Confidentiality is respected at all times and videos can be stopped and deleted at any time during the consultation should you change your mind.
